Oktoberfest in Blumenau



Blumenau is a Brazilian city was established by Dr. Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau in 1850 in company of 17 other German settlers. Currently this city is famous in Brazil because of German customs and his textile industry. Blumenau population is composed mostly by descendants of Germans, besides Italians, Poles and Portuguese. This German origin is widely expressed during Oktoberfest, this is a tipical German celebration that looking to remember the German culture. It is the largest folk festival in Germany and one of the world's largest festival, this is celebrated in October. Oktoberfest in Blumenau is the most biggest Oktoberfest celebrated outside of Germany. On the first Sunday of the festival thousands of participants dressed in historical costume party and parade through for the Blumenau`s street . During the festival, bands are invited from Germany to play folk music. In the week of festival will serve around one million beer and typical German food is consumed.



The beer car goes around central Blumenau in the afternoon giving away beer.



In all, Oktoberfest Blumenau 2010 will have 471 musical performances.

BRAZILIAN MUSIC

the Brazilian music is diverse, this was influenced by different cultures mixed in the country history.

the most popular genres are samba, bossa noba, chorro, and there is a type of music that is related with a dance called capoeira.

Besides, the folk music in Brazil there is a tradition of making clasic music, this music has its origen in the relationship with european inmigrants.

the zamba is the most popular music of brazil, this genre is the soul of carnival of rio, this music is part of life of each brazilian.

The next song is sang by TIM MAIA. He was a polemical and famous composer singer in Brazil during 70`s 80`s and 90`s, Maia performed in variety of musical genres.
Tim Maia died in March in 1998, after to suffer several health problems.

HISTORY

Some important dates in history of Brazil are:
1500 The Portuguese fleet commander Pedro Alvares Cabral landed in Brazil and claimed it for his country.

1822 Brazil declared its independence from
Portugal.
1889 Brazil proclaimed itself a republic.
1960 Brazil moved its capital from Rio de
Janeiro to the newly built city of Brasilia.
2002 Brazil become five-time world champion of soccer at the world cup.
2003 Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva takes office as president of the Republic.

LANDSCAPE

The landscape in Brazil varies from region to region. In the north you'll find extensive low-lying Amazon Rainforest whereas in the south terrain with hills and low mountains
• There are several mountain ranges along Brazil's vast coastline.

• The highest peak is called "Pico da Neblina" with an altitude of 3,014 metres

• There are a number of idyllic paradise-like islands located just off the Atlantic coast of Brazil'Saint Peter, Rocas Atoll, Fernando de Noronha, Trindade and Martim Vaz.

• Brazil has to the largest river in the world (The Amazon). It's the largest in terms of flowing volume and the second longest in the world.

• Iguassu Falls are often described as being one of the seven natural wonders of the world:
It is located on the Parana River, the falls act as a natural border to the countries of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay and compose of 275 cataracts in total.

• Brazil has eight and a half thousand kilometres of coastline

Some of Brazil's best beaches are located on the Fernando de Noronha archipelago. Many consider them, to be the most beautiful in the world.

All the beaches here are very well preserved. With greenish/blue waters that can be amazingly transparent, many of them offer excellent diving opportunities, where you'll see an extensive range of indigineous marine life.

Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro,

It is one of the world's most famous city beaches. It's four kms of spotless wide white sand. It's relatively cheap and has some outrageous nightclubs.

But unfortunately, theft can be a problem sometimes.


TOURISM

The carnival of Rio de Janeiro, is an annual festival in Brazil, this carnival is influenced by an old African culture of black slaves.
The Rio de Janeiro city stop their activities in the carnival week, this carnival is visited by thousand and thousand people of different countries around the world every year.
The Copacabana beaches are the most beautiful in the country and are visited during all year.
Although Brazil is beautiful country, 50% of tourism in Sao Pablo and Rio de Janeiro, the most important cities in the Brazilian economy is business tourism.

This tourist attraction have a size 404 meters of height, it is located in the guaranas' Bahia
Corcovado
Corcovado is a tourist attraction very important for Brazil, it is located in Rio de Janeiro city, in this place there is a monument, this monument is called "Cristo Redentor", and the monument is contemplating the Rio de Janeiro city.
The monument has a height of thirty meters, it is placed in a base of six meter and it has seven hundred tons of weigh.
Christ is the symbol of Rio de Janeiro city and it is one of the seven world’s wonders.

WEATHER

Brazil has a diverse climate. This is due to its massive size, along with other factors such as temperature, altitude.
In the north the average annual temperature is around 28ºC. In the south, it's a lot cooler in comparison; it stays around 20ºC.

In general, Brazil has an excellent climate. With average temperatures exceeding 20°C, it's the perfect year round destination.
